Your appointment starts with a 'before' photo for shade comparison followed by a light polish to remove superficial surface deposits. Then I place a gel gum barrier as protection and Vitamin E oil to the lips. This is followed by pre-treatment hydration.
*Professional whitening uses hydrogen peroxide to gently break down stain molecules which exist within the enamel and underlying tooth structures.
02
Treatment adds up to three controlled whitening cycles using a purple light to gently accelerate whitening. There is continuous monitoring throughout to manage any sensitivity that might occur. The procedure can take between 50 mins to 1 hr 1/2.
*Hydrogen peroxide penetrates enamel safely and stain molecules are broken into smaller, less pigmented compounds
03
Post-whitening treatment focuses on maintaining enamel hydration through the use of a surface mineral balancing varnish or desensitizing protocol. An 'after' photo is captured, and a shade comparison is conducted.
*These compounds absorb less light so more light is reflected back to the eye and teeth appear brighter, without changing the tooth structure.
04
After the treatment, a hydrating lip mask is applied, and the aftercare protocol is reviewed. This involves a brief transition to white foods and drinks, along with tips to help you maintain your new, brighter smile for an extended period.

Is professional whitening safe for teeth?
Yes — when delivered within clinical guidelines. Professional whitening alters stain molecules within the tooth without removing or weakening enamel. Gel formulation, including controlled oxygen free-radical activity and balanced pH, is key to managing enamel stress and sensitivity.
Why professional over cosmetic salon whitening?
Professional whitening includes oral health screening, gum protection, controlled exposure, and careful monitoring throughout treatment. As a registered dental hygienist with a three-year qualification and over 11 years of clinical experience, I tailor each treatment to individual teeth and oral health needs rather than applying a one-size-fits-all cosmetic approach.
Will whitening cause sensitivity?
Temporary sensitivity can occur with peroxide-based teeth whitening. At Polish + White, sensitivity risk is assessed in advance and monitored throughout treatment. Supportive measures may be used to help maintain enamel hydration and comfort, including nano-hydroxyapatite, Pro-Argin based desensitising agents, and protective surface barriers. If sensitivity occurs, it is often mild and short-lived.
ENHANCE - mid strength teeth whitening
$300
Best suited for a visible refresh and improvement in tooth colour without undertaking a full whitening programme

• Six-month refresh following previous whitening
• Controlled refinement after professional whitening

Introduction to Whitening - light strength
$150
Best suited as a gentle first step
Suitable for first-time whitening clients or those wanting to experience professional whitening conservatively. This option allows you to explore whitening in a controlled setting and assess how your teeth respond before progressing further. Perfect for a brighten up before a big event, combined with a polish to remove surface, tea or coffee stains.
Maintenance - light strength whitening
$129
Best suited as ongoing brightness maintenance
Designed for clients who have previously completed professional whitening at Polish + White and wish to maintain or lightly refresh their results. “After whitening, teeth gradually settle into a new lighter baseline. Short low strength, regular 3-4 month top-ups in the first year help reinforce that colour. Results tend to last longer and require less effort over time.”
How long do whitening results last?
Most clients maintain results for around 12 months, some 2-3 years. Those with a highly pigmented diet (such as red wine or coffee) may notice fading sooner — often around 6–9 months
Low-strength maintenance whitening can help refresh brightness and extend results.
How often will I need maintenance whitening?
Clinical studies show that most colour rebound occurs in the first year after whitening. Short, low-dose maintenance every 3–4 months during this period helps stabilise the lighter shade. Once colour has settled, maintenance is usually only needed every 6–12 months.”
Can crowns, veneers, fillings or bonding be whitened?
Teeth whitening only affects natural teeth. Crowns, veneers, fillings and bonding do not change colour and may need review after whitening for colour matching.
