What is the Difference Between Professional and Cosmetic Teeth Whitening?

The key difference is the strength of the gels, the level of dental supervision involved, and how quickly results are achieved. Professional teeth whitening is carried out or supervised by a dentist or registered dental hygienist using regulated hydrogen peroxide gels, including stronger versions where appropriate, along with an assessment, gum protection, and a tailored approach. 03. Intro.
Light strength whitening + polish

$150 includes GST. Best suited as a gentle first step and glow up.

Suitable for first-time teeth whitening clients or those wanting to experience professional whitening conservatively. This option lets you explore whitening in a controlled setting and assess how your teeth respond before progressing further. Perfect for a brighten up before a big event, combined with a polish to remove surface, tea or coffee stains.

04. Maintain.
Hybrid strength whitening

$129 includes GST. Best suited as ongoing brightness maintenance.

Designed for clients who have previously completed professional whitening at Polish + White and wish to maintain or lightly refresh their results. After whitening, teeth gradually settle into a new lighter baseline. Short, low strength, regular 3-4 month top-ups in the first year help reinforce colour. Results tend to last longer and require less effort over time.

Most Frequently Asked Questions About Teeth Whitening.

Will whitening cause sensitivity?

Temporary sensitivity can occur with peroxide-based teeth whitening. At Polish + White sensitivity risk is assessed in advance and monitored throughout treatment. Supportive measures may be used to help maintain enamel hydration and comfort, including nano-hydroxyapatite, Pro-Argin based desensitising agents and protective surface barriers. Any sensitivity it is often mild and short-lived. More Here >

Can crowns, veneers, fillings or bonding be whitened?
Teeth whitening only affects natural teeth. Crowns, veneers, fillings and bonding do not change colour and may need review after whitening for colour matching. If you are planning  dental work, it is usually best to whiten first so the new restoration can be matched to your brighter natural teeth. A two week settling period is generally recommended before final shade matching or bonding so colour can stabilise and bonding conditions are ideal.

How often will I need maintenance whitening?
Clinical studies show that most colour rebound occurs in the first year after whitening. Short, cost effective, low-dose maintenance every 3–4 months during this period helps stabilise the lighter shade. Once colour has settled, maintenance is usually needed every 6–12 mths. Book a Maintenance appointment >
