Hi there,
I wanted to share some exciting updates about the new hydrogen peroxide teeth whitening treatments at Polish and White Teeth Whitening Studio, located in Orakei Bay Village. As the owner and hygienist here, I’m thrilled to introduce these innovative options and explain why I chose them.
You might remember from previous blogs how much I value nano-hydroxyapatite in teeth care. My journey began with the PAP+ professional, perfect for my clients with sensitive teeth. I was keen to find a hydrogen peroxide gel that also incorporated nano-hydroxyapatite. After months of research and numerous emails, I discovered IDS from Italy, a company with over 60 years in the dental industry, would include it in their in chair professional teeth whitening products by January 2025. Until then, I’m using their current products with a standalone nano-hydroxyapatite treatment paste applied for two minutes post-whitening.
One of the most common questions I get during whitening consultations is whether the gel harms the teeth. While studies are mixed, some suggesting microscopic changes and others deeming it safe, I chose to err on the side of caution. I wanted a product that repairs and replenishes teeth while minimising sensitivity often associated with hydrogen peroxide teeth whitening.
Nano-hydroxyapatite, developed by NASA, has been used in Japan since 1978 to remineralize enamel, prevent tooth decay, and relieve sensitivity. When combined with bleaching products, it restores minerals lost during the whitening process, increases micro-hardness, helps neutralise pH and reduces sensitivity. With continued use, especially combined in a toothpaste like Davids it creates a healthy lustre and restores natural whiteness by forming a new apatite layer. It also prevents harmful bacteria from attaching to teeth without harming beneficial ones, filling tiny imperfections on a microscopic scale.
Nano-hydroxyapatite's effectiveness comes from its small size, which allows it to penetrate tooth tubules and repair teeth from within. It is highly regarded for its biocompatibility and bioactivity, integrating easily into dentin tubules to block sensitivity pain and bind effectively to dentin apatite and tooth enamel. It far out performs Hydroxyapatite as this is larger in size an only sits on the surface of the tooth.
The nano hydroxyapatite used in all products offered at Polish and White is made from nanoXIM•CarePaste which is certified as a NATRUE-approved raw material, classified as 100% nature-identical, as listed in the NATRUE database. nanoXIM•CarePaste is from FLUIDINOVA and is the only rod-shaped nano-hydroxyapatite globally approved as safe for oral care cosmetics by the Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS) of the European authorities.
The hydrogen peroxide treatments we offer at Polish and White are from Blanc One , an Italian brand known for its innovative dental products. Our options include:
1. High Strength 35% HP Ultra: Ideal for those who haven't whitened before or in over a year.
2. HP Enhance 16 % Carbamide (Touch): Effective as a mid-strength booster for those with already white teeth or as a six-month touch-up.
3. HP Maintenance 5.6 % ( Click): A quick 15-minute treatment for maintaining a white smile every 1-3 months.
These professional in-chair treatments deliver immediate results without the need for daily trays, perfect for those searching for "same-day teeth whitening" or "best teeth whitening" in Auckland. Many clients have had bad experiences with custom trays causing sensitivity and sore gums, so these treatments offer a gentler, more convenient option.
Their strongest whitening gel, BlancOne® Ultra+, avoids the "liquid phase," reducing the risk of tooth sensitivity and discomfort from long, high-concentration peroxide applications. The photodynamic process used in Blanc One products speeds up the whitening, halving contact times and reducing adverse effects. Read more here about BlancOne’s ULTRA+ product, which gets better results with a lower percentage of HP than Opalescence Extraboost, and better results than Pola Office with the same strength HP
Stay tuned for our next blog where I’ll explain why I chose the Beyond II light to complement the Blanc One Whitening system.
